The overall objective of the program is to integrate children and young people to the project Coopeagri RL, inculcate good human values ​​and solidarity that will generate a new individual and social consciousness.

There is a major concern in the analysis of Coopeagri related to generational renewal: statistics show an increase in partners, but with an average age of 48.

There is also an important issue in Costa Rica and in Perez Zeledon related to land and its use for agricultural activities. The lands that parents give their children an inheritance, are increasingly sold to foreign people who are not interested in continuing with agricultural activities.

The "Future Leaders" programme has the mission to train future heirs of the cooperative: to achieve that the new generation considers agriculture as a development option for their families.

"Leaders of the Future" is focused on children aged 0 to 18. Most of them come from rural areas where coffee and sugar cane is produced. These families have agricultural activities as the only source of income but with a very low production volume, which does not cover their basic needs.

The learning methodolgy is constructivist: children and young people learn cooperativism by participating in a real experience.

They work values ​​such as liderage, loyalty, friendship, discipline, entrepreneurship, creativity, excellence, integration, love to family, community and nature. They also provide knowledge of social economy, environment, agriculture, languages, computers and art.

As current technology and information are key tools, "Leaders of the Future" has included the computer and the Internet as priority issues in their training programs and the Internet as priority issues. For thes reasons we created this project with the aim of creating a new generation of partners, with a link to land and agriculture, but equipped with the tools to improve their quality of life.
