Alternativa3 NGO is cooperating with Fundación Zuá on the collection of the money necessary to buy 10 cows (22.000€), which will be assigned to the Rural Center ‘Los Senderos’, located in the  municipality of Sasaima, Colombia.

There, several families have decided to leave Bogotá slums and form a rural self-sustainable community. Their sustenance comes only from the products grown in the agricultural fields, from incipient livestock farming activities, the raise of chicken and sales to local market.

In October 2007, this community only had one cow, Silvana, which did not supply enough milk for the community’s nourishment. Milk is an essential part of their diet, since it is one of their scarce sources of proteins. Currently, they have already five more cows, with wich all inhabitants can drink milk daily and they have started producint yogurts and cheese.

But this is not yet finished! There are still gaps in the stable of "Los Senderos".

So far we have collected: 14.260 € (last updated: 20/01/2012).

We have already nine cows! Let's continue, and soon we will be able to fill the barn!

With more milk they could sell these products and obtain incomes necessary for their social projects: education for children and adults, residential construction and development of agriculture and cattle-raising.
