The complete name is Thanapara Swallows Development Society, which means "Thanapara's Swallows". This name was chosen for being that of a bird that emigrates between the North and the South. Its arrival to the North marks the beginning of the spring, seen as a sign of hope. The project is placed in Thanapara's village in Rajshadi's district and it started at the end of the year 1972.

 

Today the project relies on approximately 1850 beneficiaries. At the production women are employed elaborating diversity of crafts: clothes and handcrafted fabrics with loom manuals. Community development projects are also promoted, as for instance schools, agricultural promotion, health programs, etc.

 

Products: mainly jute textiles, also jute crafts
