Sindyanna of Galilee, a Fair Trade organization based in Galilee, is part of a social network that operates within the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and in a society ethnically divided into two basic groups: Jews and Arabs. Their approach is universal. Arabs and Jews work side by side, united by a joint vision. The network includes, beside Sindyanna, The Workers Advice Center (WAC) and Hanitzotz Publishing House. Our vision is that of creating a society where all humankind has access to the same rights and opportunities, with a particular emphasis on the rights of women and the right to work. This vision is closely connected to the possibility of achieving peace on terms accepted by both sides of the conflict and according to international law.
Sindyanna, active for the past 10 years, attempts to create conditions for development and job opportunities for Arab women. We invest our resources in cultivating local foods, producing crafts and soap in order to maintain and revive these native products. We do this loyal to the name we have chosen – Sindyanna of Galilee – The Oak being a Galilean tree representing steadfastness and strength.
