ANAP - Ass. Nacional de Agricultores Pequeños de Cuba
ANAP is a national association of small farmers in Cuba. They are in the region of Ciego de Avila in the heart of Cuba. This is a very flat region, an area that is almost exclusively dedicated to grow sugar cane.
Today, the area is used in more ways for different crops. Farmers who grow oranges and mangos for Fair Trade obtain from them their main income. They are also cultivating other crops, like pineapples and guavas to continue diversifying both production and income. This type of strategy tends to secure its future in farming.
These products are being certified by Fair Trade. Humid and sunny weather makes their oranges very sweet and ideal for orange juice.
