The organization UHATEZMALA (Uhatezmala: "Fire launching mountain") consists of Northern and Centre Guatemala artisans, which work mainly with leather and textile.
The financing of the project is possible thanks to the funds from parish churches from Zaragoza and Castellón (Spain), although it is currently suffering from a recession caused by some obstacules in the selling of certain products.
Women are basically working in the sewing of textile products such as purses, wallets and passport carrying bags. Although some of the workshops are provided with machines, most of the products are handsewed. The sale of these products in the local markets did only allowed them to replace, however, through the exportation of the products, the producers obtain not only better lifestyle conditions but also funds which are invested in the development of social and labour reintegration projects.
