"El Ceibo" is a cooperative that was founded in 1977 with the aim of breaking the monopoly of transportation and trade through intermediaries. Currently it has 850 members who cultivate cocoa in small parcels not exceeding 12 hectares.
The current mission for Ceibo Ltd. is "to develop associatively and competitive criteria of equity and sustainability, business activities in agriculture, forestry, agribusiness, services and other, in the perspective of strengthening the entrepreneurial capacity of cooperatives and participate improving the quality of life of the partner families and farmers settled in the area of influence "EL CEIBO" Ltd. "
El Ceibo has become a cooperative known and respected in Bolivia. Shortly after its establishment, members of the cooperative built a store and a drying facility.
In 1985, the Cooperative decided to sell their cocoa through Fair Trade channels, and so began his relations with several European countries: Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, etc..
The benefits and services offered by the cooperative members are transportation, technical training, university education, trade credits, research, etc..
