UPROAGRO - Unión de Productores Agropecuarios

The Union of Agricultural Producers PRO-AGRO "is a social matrix based association of small producers focused on economic activity and solidarity among its members. With business vision, their current and sustainable objectives are diversification of crops, organic certification and processing infrastructure of their products (spices, coffee, achiote, and others), based on a solidarity economy that will improve the quality of lives of producers.

 

It is located in the region of Chijchipani province of Caranavi, in the Yungas Valley, north of Bolivia. Chijchipani region has eleven colonies where 493 families live, 259 of which are part of ProAgro.

 

It was founded in 2000 with 10 affiliated settlements Chijchipani Agrarian Central, and began its activities in the marketing of coffee in the region. Currently has 259 associates who grow coffee under organic production standards. They also have other alternatives in the area: achiote, citrus and aromatic herbs.

 

Its objectives are:

  • Improving the quality and living conditions of families of small organic farmers to improve income.
  • Promoting organic production and quality through technology innovation with an appropriate impact on economic development, preserving our natural resources, flora and fauna.

 

The Association is made by a Board of 5 members, a Department of Marketing, Department of Production, Processing and Department of Internal Certification Committee and 3 supervisory board members are democratically elected every 2 years with a 50% change directory .

 

The coffee produced at ProAgro is of high quality . Not surprisingly, members have obtained fourth and seventh positions in two international competition quality coffee, "Cupping the Mountain's Peak 2003" and "Cup of Excellence 2004." His goal for the coming years is that these positions can still be improved.

 

Products: green coffee, ground coffee 250 gr., Coffee beans 250 gr., 1 kg coffee beans.
