The 'Picos' region, as almost all the North-East of Brazil, suffers from the oblivion and little help from the government. This has led to small farmers living on minimum subsistence, a situation that landowners have used to their advantage, using speculation and other unfair practices.

 

This region produces 10 tons of cashew nuts, of which 6 are sold within the dignity and equity concepts.
